Central MeetBike originated from two previous conferences similarly entitled MeetBike, which were held in 2008 and 2009. The great interest in promoting cycling as a part of a sustainable urban mobility and the successful international cooperation were motivation for the application of the Central MeetBike project.

1^st MeetBike conference: 3^rd and 4^th April 2008 (It was the start of the research project “Interdependencies of Bicycle and Public Transport Use - Analyses, Strategies and Measures for an Integrated Facilitation in Cities” on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs)

2^nd MeetBike conference: 12^th and 13^th March (held together with the 12^th conference on Public Transport of the German Institution “Vereinigung für Stadt-, Regional- und Landesplanung”)
