Media Center (MC)

The Media Center (MC) is a central institute at the TU Dresden and is devoted to research and service in the areas of e-learning, knowledge organization, and multimedia applications. Subsequently MC supports the development and the introduction of multimedia teaching and learning opportunities for education and training at the Technical University of Dresden in collaboration with all departments and institutes as well as the integration of these technologies through appropriate strategies of human resource and organizational development. The Multimedia Council of TUD is the board of MC and shall support the Media Center, advise the Director of the MC and represent the position of the departments of TUD.

Our services include:

• Applied interdisciplinary research and development, design and quality evaluation in the areas of e-learning, knowledge organization, and multimedia applications,

• Advice and services for the faculties and institutes of TU Dresden in the development and introduction of teaching and learning opportunities,

• Regional support of users of educational technologies, especially of the learning management system OPAL,

• Development and operation of information systems and Internet-based tools for knowledge and collaboration,

• User support and technical support for the web portal (TUDWCMS) and the Research Information System (FIS) of the TU Dresden,

• Design and usability analysis for multimedia content and learning environment, and promoting the accessibility of learning, teaching and information services,

• Design and implementation of user-specific training and education,

• Support and guidance in the development and implementation of media projects as well as staff in cooperation networks as a project coordinator and partners,

• Implementation of the e-learning strategy of the TU Dresden in cooperation with local, national and European initiatives of e-learning.
