The School of International Studies was founded in January 2002 as a Central Academic Service Unit of Technische Universität Dresden. Since October 2002 the School has been responsible for the undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in International Relations.

The aim of the School of International Studies is to initiate and coordinate further interdisciplinary degree courses. In the future, interdisciplinary cooperation in research shall be strengthened through the combination and further development of approaches in different subject areas. Furthermore, the School of International Studies aims at maintaining and extending its network within the university and with other universities, through cooperation with non-university research institutes, as well as with public institutions and private enterprises.
