In the session on 13 August 2008, the senate of the TU Dresden has decided unanimously to accept the study documents for the reformed Master’s course of study „International Relations“ with two core areas. Hence, the Master’s course of study will be adjusted completely to the Bologna requirements from the winter term 2008/09 on.

The students can now choose between the core areas “Global Political Economy” and “International Organization and Institutions”.

Core area “Global Political Economy”  (GPOE)
(Overview of modular organization of the program) 

• Core Subjects:	International Politics / International Economy
  Minor:	International Law

The core area GPOE focuses on international organizational structures, especially with global-economic relations and their regulation by politics and international organizations.

Spezialisierungsrichtung "Internationale Organisation und Institutionen" (IO)
(Overview of modular organization of the program)

• Core Subjects:	International Politics / International Law
  Minor:	International Economy

The core area IO focuses on international organizational structures as well, however, its emphasis is on the legal and political regulation in a globalized world and on the creation and effectiveness of international organizations and institutions.

The program comprises four semesters; this includes one semester for the composition and presentation of the Master’s thesis.
