Innovative solutions for lab-automation developed by Bioprocess Engineers from Dresden at the Analytica 2014 fair in Munich

The lab automation platform PetriJet developed at the TU Dresden, Chair of Bioprocess Engineering, equipped with one input and one output stack respectively handles up to 20 culture dishes per batch which results in about 100 handled culture dishes and taken images per hour. For that matter and due to the innovative, unique system for separation of culture dishes unsealed but also sealed culture dishes can be treated. The moving of the culture dishes is carried out along electrically-driven linear axles and the lifting is realized by a gripper. Configuration and operation of this compact, bench-top device are web-based using an e.g. tablet-PC or smartphone and is independent from an operating system. Based on the platform strategy followed from the starting point an easy adaptions to other, customized application scenarios are possible. The readily available lab automation platform PetriJet enables an effective increase in efficiency and sample capacity with small and middle sized laboratories.
