[MA] Dependencies and Interactions of Energy-efficient Software
The goal of the master thesis is the search, identification and analysis of impact, which can occur during executions of workflows, containing several different types of algorithms, on energy-efficiency of either a software system in general or members of the same workflow itself. The research objective is to provide energy-efficiency patterns for various combinations of different algorithms/programs.
For the thesis, the following tasks have to be fulfilled:
- Literature analysis covering closely related work.
- An empirical study of two classes of algorithms/programs (compression and encryption) organized in a pipeline.
- An investigation of how combinations of the aforementioned classes of algorithms can allow maximizing energy-efficiency at runtime.
- Optional: An extension of energy patterns to other types of algorithms.
