[MA] Virtual Immersive Concerts
With the emergence of a new type of coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 is added to the list of viruses
that can be contracted by human contact and spread by airborne transmission, greatly imposing
contact restrictions stronger than ever to protect the population. As a consequence, there has
been a considerable decline of live concert events to the disadvantage of organizers, artists, music
lovers, and concert-goers across the continents.
Now that we have reached the point where mobile devices, virtual reality glasses, and the internet can be used to stream events, virtual concert events are becoming an increasingly relevant topic of discussion. What is missing in most of the platforms is the ability to interact with the audience, have them follow the performers, and show them the concert’s highlights. The problem, however, is that this needs to be achieved by both the organizers and the participants of this event, without compromising both the ability or the quality of online events by their lack of immersion, and the ability of the participants/organizers for communicating in a variety of languages and mediums, e.g., via mobile devices, or other forms of communication.
