Research Statement
The Active Inference framework is based on a simple principle : We estimate the plausibility of something based on prior information and expectations. These expectations are then iteratively updated when we make a new observation. Within the Active Inference framework, I work at the interface of computational models and neuroimaging to try and answer the following questions : How does the brain select among various actions to pursue a goal ? When the environment is uncertain, how are goal-directed behavioral computations implemented by the brain?
I have side interests in (i) hippocampal contributions in neuronal hierarchies, (ii) how internally-generated sequences play a role in encoding trajectories through various state spaces, and (iii) off-line learning’s contribution to decision making (forward planning) and the evaluation of transitions.
