Summary
The BIM centered planning tool BIM HVACTool is extended for air duct networks. With it, planning tasks for system design for buildings (e.g. office buildings) can be solved. The building simulation solver NANDRAD of the Technical University of Dresden is used for the calculation. Engineers are thus provided with a superior tool to carry out planning efficiently, quickly and with high accuracy. With the BIM HVACTool, BIM interfaces can already be used today and high-quality solvers can be controlled. Due to the powerful 3D engine of the BIM HVACTool, even larger projects such as airports, concert halls or swimming pools can be represented. The aim is to design air conditioning units for heating and cooling with air distribution systems. The calculation tool can be used worldwide, since the simulation kernel NANDRAD universally represents physical laws without standard specifications. The standards of the respective country are specified by the input data. In Germany, VDI 2078 is used to calculate the cooling load. In Singapore, it is the Green Mark certificate. The simulation is used, for example, to calculate cooling loads and thus design cooling systems.
