information bulletin on the basics for the assessment
of embankment and bed protection on
inland waterways covers some of these burdens.
However, the loads of the bow thruster of a vessel
in motion can currently not be determined
in a simplified manner. At present, many studies
are being carried out to develop more precise
approaches. This thesis deals with the 3D-hydronumerical
flow calculation of a specific case.
The license-free software OpenFOAM is used for
this thesis. Various models of the shiptype Europaschiff
in transit are created. The distance to the embankment
as well as the embankment inclination
and the ship’s speed remain constant. The
propulsion flow of the bow thruster is varied.
The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes simulation
is widely used in computational fluid dynamics
and is also used here. In addition, large
eddy simulations are carried out. The precision
of the flow pattern and the computation time
are then compared.
