Mother-child room in Tharandt
The first mother-child room of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences in Tharandt could be handed over to its intended purpose. On the initiative of the equal opportunity commissioners Prof. Dr. Krabel and Dr. Schwalbe and by providing the corresponding financial means by the faculty, an oasis of peace could be created in the "Beamtenhaus". Students and employees of the faculty can now retreat undisturbed at their place of study or work to take care of their small children. The room is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., making it an ideal complement to regular childcare services.
"Such care options at the place of work and study may make an inconspicuous but nevertheless decisive contribution to the compatibility of family, studies and career," Prof. Krabel is pleased to say. The faculty would therefore like to set up more mother-child rooms for the Geo sciences and Hydro Sciences departments.
