Prof. Dr. Irene Ring (IHI-Zittau)

Founded in April 2012, the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services has 126 members globally. IPBES has developed its own Conceptual Framework that is the basis for its current working programme 2014 – 2020. The tasks of IPBES are complex, financing of its deliverables not always secured and the challenges to fulfil its functions and objectives are enormous. After presenting the history, decision-making and working procedures of the platform, the presentation will focus on specific IPBES deliverables such as the Regional Assessment for Europe and Central Asia, where Irene Ring is engaged as a Coordinating Lead Author.
