Successful PhD defence

Potentially endangered by climate change: Alpine Sow Thistle (Cicerbita alpina) (Eastern Ore Mountains).
On August 31th, 2017, Mr. Holger Lohse successfully defended his Phd thesis „ Investigations on the distribution of selected plant species in the Ore Mountains and hill belt, with special consideration of changing climate conditions “
The thesis is based on extensive analyses of historical records on the distribution of vascular plants, which were compared to recent findings. Therefore, theses works state an important contribution on the assessment of climate change effects. These are also of cross-regional interest. Additionally, the works of Mr. Lohse exemplify the value of historical data, which are an essential reference even for present investigations.
We cordially congratulate Mr. Lohse and wish him all the best.
