Conference of the Forest Protection Section of the DVFFA in March 2026
The conference of the Forest Protection Section of the German Association of Forest Research Institutes has been held annually again since 2022 following the coronavirus-related break. This year, it was held from March 17 to 19, 2026 at the Northwest German Forest Research Institute (NW-FVA) in Göttingen.
The 74 participants represented the forest protection departments of nine federal state and two national institutions as well as a total of eight universities and universities of applied sciences. In addition to numerous scientific presentations and poster contributions, this year's program once again included a half-day excursion. This led to the Hünstollen Natural Forest in the Reinhausen forestry office. Among other things, the focus there was on the vitality loss of European beech, which was investigated as part of the BucheAkut project.
The Chair of Forest Protection at TU Dresden participated with two contributions: Dr. Christiane Helbig gave a presentation on the forest protection teaching content in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Forest Sciences at TU Dresden and a second one on the problem of the classification of potential bark beetle repellents under the plant protection law.
At the end of the conference, the baton was passed from Dr. Martin Rohde (NW-FVA) to Dr. Katrin Möller (Landesbetrieb Forst Brandenburg) as the new coordinator of the section, whose conference is one of the most important platforms for the exchange and networking of those working in the field of forest protection in Germany.
