Research interests
My research expertise is on resilience, vulnerability and adaptation to climate-related hazards. My interests lie in the interactions between natural resources and livelihood with emphasis on the socio-economic and land use outcomes. My research uses stakeholder analysis, pattern analysis and agent-based modeling, with foundations on land use economics, community forestry and computer sciences.
I have worked in Latin America, in particular in Peru, in close collaboration with local communities, ministries and development agencies. My work has always been oriented towards creating the capacity needed at the level of governments, institutions, organizations, up to individual people for the sustainable management of natural resources. Tasks involved from policy advisory to participatory rural assessment with local communities.
I believe that the involvement of local stakeholders in all stages from the design to the implementation of projects fosters the construction of meaning in social interaction and better motivate interest and sustain engagement.
