Cirrus
Es ist eine Wolke der Gattung "Hohe Wolken", die je nach Jahreszeit in Höhen von 6 bis 8 km auftritt. Vergleiche dazu Cirrocumulus und Cirrostratus.
Isolierte Wolken in Form weißer, zarter Fäden oder weißer bzw. überwiegend weißer Flecken oder schmaler Bänder. Diese Wolken zeigen ein faseriges (haarähnliches) Aussehen oder einen seidigen Schimmer oder beides.
Man unterscheidet dabei die Arten fibratus (Ci fib), uncinus (Ci unc), spissatus (Ci spi), castellanus (Ci cas) und floccus (Ci flo). Hinzu kommen mehrere Unterarten wie intortus (Ci in), radiatus (Ci ra), vertebratus (Ci ve) und duplicatus (Ci du), die jeder Art zugeordnet werden können. Die Bezeichnung wird dann z. B. Ci fib ve.
