Current Job Openings at the Smart Mobility Lab
The Smart Mobility Lab (SML) at TU Dresden offers researchers the opportunity to actively shape the research and testing of future mobility. Several positions for Research Associates and doctoral candidates are currently open.
The Smart Mobility Lab is being built in the Schwarzkollm industrial park near Hoyerswerda and will be developed into a unique research and testing infrastructure for digital mobility technologies. Here, transportation scientists work together with experts from related disciplines to develop solutions for the mobility of tomorrow. By the end of 2026, a research infrastructure is to be established where automated and connected road and air traffic, autonomous agricultural machinery, and robotics can be researched and tested under realistic conditions.
A distinctive feature of the Smart Mobility Lab is the integration of interdisciplinary research, simulation, and real-world test environments. Research areas include, among others, cooperative, connected, and automated driving; autonomous aviation systems; telerobotics; and swarm technologies. For example, the SML has the Dresden Driving Simulator — a driving simulator that is unique worldwide — and the Test Center for Automated Flight and Autonomous Systems (TAFAS), a research infrastructure for testing autonomous flight systems.
To further expand and advance the scientific work at the Smart Mobility Lab, Research Associates are currently being sought in various fields, including the validation of automated driving functions up to SAE Level, communication and simulation infrastructure, software development, control and test systems for the cyber-physical test setup (CVA), and driving simulation.
