In the framework of theoretic methods basic models of vehicle scheduling are explained. The assignment of traction units and the integration of stationary vehicle treatment isspwcifically addressed. Relations between vehicle assignment and punctuality as well as the control of railroad freight cars by the rational freight car reorganisation and process shaping are important to an attractive transportation service to both, persons and freight.
