Theory of Transportation Systems I and II for Student of Transport Economics

contents and acquired skills The students are able to apply methods to measure and evaluate the process quality in traffic and transportation as well as to assess the service capability and the performance of these processes including the discussion of quality characteristics.

The students understand about:
  • methods of descriptive analysis and of stochastic modeling of traffic and transportation processes,
  • application and interpretation of important theoretical distribution functions,
  • operating with samples,
  • grouping and separation according to defined characteristics,
  • analysis of dependencies and independencies of transportation characteristics among each other.
They are able to conduct the practical relevant interpretation of results and decision fields as well as to conclude congruent deductions. Course participants obtain an overview above the several environmental impacts of traffic and transportation. As consequence they are sensitized for scientific approaches close to reality  in the stress field of transportation-economy-environment like e.g. "external effects" and "sustainability in transportation". They evolved the competence to classify and evaluate data and argumentations on the treated areas like noise emissions, exhaust gas emissions and immisions, energy consumption, smok and refuse.

  • Measurement of service quality, measuring methods, evaluation models
  • mathematical modeling of one-dimensional and multi-dimensional transportation characteristics,
  • Methods of grouping and separation,
  • Optimization methods,
  • descriptive analysis and stochastic modeling of the transportation process,
  • Theory of process shaping regarding traffic and transportation services,
  • descriptive analysis and stochastic modeling of the regularity of traffic and transportation processes,
  • stochastic modeling of traffic flows,
  • stochastic theory of resource capability in transportation systems,
  • stochastic theory of systembehavipur regarding service quality, system performance and time response of transportation systems.

granting of credit points
  • The overall module "Basics of traffic and transportation engineering" delivers 9 credit points. The credit points are acquainted by passing the module exam.
  • The course "Theory of Transportation Systems I and II for Students of Transport Economics" delivers 6 credit points which are acquainted by passing the examination with a duration of 120 min (examination 1 of the total module exam). 
  • The overall module degree is built by the grade of the examination with 120 min (double wighted) and the grade of the 60min examination (examination 2 of the total module excam, single wighted).
