At the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, Institute of Transport Planning and Road Traffic, a position is available at the Chair of Transport Ecology starting on August 1, 2026, or at the next possible date, as a
Research Associate (m/f/d)
(pay grade E 13 TV-L, provided personal requirements are met)
for 3 years (employment duration according to WissZeitVG) with the option of extension, at 80% of the regular weekly working hours. The position is intended to be long-term.
Your tasks:
- joining an ongoing research project on traffic evaporation
- designing surveys and traffic data collection
- developing analysis methods and interpreting results
- researching and identifying suitable case studies for reducing road capacity
Your profile:
- at least a good academic university degree in transport engineering, geography, economics, environmental engineering, spatial planning, or fields such as psychology or social sciences, provided that knowledge in mobility behavior and/or transport planning is demonstrated
- experience in the analysis of transport or mobility data
- strong motivation for independent academic work
- documented achievement of project goals and deadlines
- good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- very good German and good English skills, both written and spoken
- confident use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- a completed doctoral degree with at least good results is an advantage
- experience e. g. in designing, organizing, and evaluating surveys; collecting transport or mobility data through counts, measurements, or mobile network data; in-depth experience in data analysis and/or modeling of (passenger) transport; as well as project management and/or acquiring third-party funding
