MFTS 2022
The 4th Symposium on Management of Future Motorway and Urban Traffic Systems 2022 (MFTS2022) will take place from 30 November to 2 December 2022 in Dresden, Germany. The symposium will be organised by the Chair of Traffic Process Automation, Institute of Traffic Telematics, “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences of TU Dresden.
Increasing urbanization and public concern about sustainability have led to numerous challenges for traffic operations. Thanks to the advancements of information and communication technologies, vehicle automation, sharification, and electrification offer a set of opportunities to manage and control both urban and motorway traffic systems. Leveraging these opportunities requires cooperation among public authorities, road operators, industry and research institutions.
MFTS2022 will therefore set its main theme as Cooperative Management of Multimodal Traffic to echo the importance of joint efforts towards sustainable mobility in both motorway and urban networks involving connected & automated vehicles (CAVs) and multi-modality. The symposium will provide an excellent opportunity to bring together scientists and practitioners to share the state-of-the-art of traffic management and discuss the research agenda.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Traffic management and coordinated control systems
- Network estimation and control using V2X communication
- Traffic management in the presence of CAVs
- Data-driven traffic control
- AI-driven traffic flow theory
- Traffic flow models for CAVs (micro and macroscopic level)
- Traffic simulation for C-ITS
