Guideline for doctoral studies
This guideline intends to provide doctoral candidates with an orientation for their doctoral stud-ies and assist them in the search of relevant information (e.g. offered courses, possible sources of funding etc). The document is explicitly to be considered as a guideline rather than a binding directive. This guideline has been developed by a team of doctoral and post-doctoral students from the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Good Scientific Practice at TU Dresden
TU Dresden has issued the Statutes for Ensuring Good Scientific Practice, Avoiding Scientific Misconduct, and Handling Violations. All members and staff of TU Dresden are obliged to follow these statutes, to make them the basis of their scientific work and to actively contribute to the avoidance of scientific misconduct within their sphere of activity.
A lot of more helpful information you find on the central good scientific practice website of TU Dresden.
Counselling in Statistics and Writing
Writing Consultation
With the writing consultation we would like to support especially doctoral students in the early phase of their doctorate in writing their work (articles, monographs, etc.).
Dr. Jeannette Stark offers assistance in the following areas:
- Improving the reading flow by working on the text
- Sharpening the motivation
- Clearly describing the research goal and the contribution to science and practice
- Discussion of writing problems
Please don't hesitate and send an e-mail with the text to be discussed to Dr. Jeannette Stark: . Please mark the parts of the text you would like to discuss.
Important: This consultation does not replace the supervision by the doctoral supervisor. The focus of the joint work with Dr. Stark is solely on the points described above.
Research lab "TexLab"
The research lab is part of the Centre for Methods in the Social Sciences of the TU Dresden. The lab has more than 20 user PCs, as well as 2 PCs for supervisors. Each PC possesses two monitors, telephone and modem access and a high-grade call centre headset. A large table provides sufficient room for meetings or group discussions with approx. 12 people. Furthermore, mobile video projection systems and an omnidirectional action camera can be used. You will find control software (e.g., ePrime, z-Tree), software for eye tracking and the measurement of reaction time (e.g., Facereader, IR Media Monitor) and also analysis software (e.g., SPSS, MaxQDA).
