MA-WW-BWL-2050/D-WW-WIWI-2050 - Seminar Strategy in the Digital Age: Theory and Practice
Chair | Business Administration, esp. Organization
Lecturer | Prof. Dr. Blagoy Blagoev
Objectives & Content |
This course provides an advanced introduction to current issues and concepts of strategic management in the digital economy. The rise of the digital economy creates a new blueprint for strategy. Instead of creating and sustaining firm-specific competitive advantages, the digital age puts platforms, ecosystems, and networks at the center of strategic management. The course will explore a number of factors that have contributed to this networked-based approach: datafication, the emergence of the Internet of Things, and the growing ubiquity of inexpensive, fast, and digital networks. Students will learn different approaches for explaining the strategic positioning of firms and analyzing the impact of digital technology on strategy. In addition, the course will cover the strategic management of networks, business ecosystems, crowd-based organizations, and other new forms of collaboration by way of weekly case studies. |
