The Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics combines a broad business education with an economic specialization. Within the first semesters you acquire fundamental knowledge in business subjects (e. g. Controlling, Logistics, Marketing) as well as economic subjects (Micro- and Macroeconomics). Additional supporting subjects are Mathematics, Statistics, Law, Business Informatics and Quantitative Methods.
Beginning with the 4th semester you may choose a specialization and acquire deeper knowledge and skills in the fields of Business Administration or Economics. Choosing a specialization in Business Administration allows you to learn about economic processes within a company, while choosing Economics will expand your knowledge in describing and analyzing the overall economic context.
Graduates with a specialization in Business Administration are qualified for challenging jobs in private enterprises as well as business-related administrations. Possible occupational fields include project management, organization and product development, marketing, energy management, environmental and sustainability management, logistics, controlling, finance and accounting, distribution, as well as consulting. Graduates with a specialization in Economics also have a broad field of application, including state institutions, public administration (e. g. public authorities, consumer advice center), central and commercial banks, insurers, chambers and associations as well as national and international organizations.
The Bachelor is the first academic degree you can receive. A Bachelor degree in Business Administration and Economics allows you to apply for a four-semester continuing Master program in Business Administration, Economics or Business and Economics Education, either directly after finishing your Bachelor or after a phase in corporate practice.
The Bachelor program consists of a wide range of compulsory modules, various mandatory specialization possibilities, and the Bachelor thesis. The workload comprises 180 credit points. Every semester 30 credit points are awarded.
Within the first three semesters the mandatory core modules (100 credit points) teach fundamentals in Business Administration, Economics, Business Informatics, Law, Mathematics, Statistics, and Quantitative Methods. Also, an internship of four weeks is mandatory. The module 'Wisenschaftliches und Praktisches Arbeiten' (scientific and practical work) teaches important key competences.
The mandatory core modules also cover a Bachelor seminar in the 5th semester, preparing you for the Bachelor thesis.
Starting in the 4th semester, the elective modules (70 credit points) can be chosen from the majors Business Administration, Economics, and one additional field. Therefore you have to choose at least 50 credit points from the field Business Administration and/or Economics.
The program is completed in the 6th semester with a Bachelor thesis (10 credit points).
