Publication Guideline of TU Dresden
Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden) and its scientists are nationally and internationally recognised for their research achievements. In order to ensure the greatest possible dissemination and visibility of research results, it is essential that publications can be unambiguously assigned to the author and TU Dresden.
As indicated in the publication guidelines and decided by the University Executive Board on 31st July 2018, all publishing members of TU Dresden need to indicate their formal affiliation to TU Dresden in all publications by indicating the name of the university clearly and correctly.
In accordance with the 2005 and 2020 decision of the University Executive Board on the uniform appearance of TU Dresden, the official name of the university, which is to be used in this form in all publications (also non-German publications) and their metadata, is as follows:
Technische Universität Dresden
Alternatively, the abbreviation TU Dresden can also be used, in particular to avoid umlauts or for technical requirements.
Missing or incorrect indication of this institutional affiliation means that the respective publication may not be found, and thus cannot be identified by the scientific community as an achievement of the individual or the university, nor can it be taken into account in performance comparisons.
Method
All publishing members of TU Dresden need to indicate their formal affiliation to TU Dresden in all publications by indicating the name of the university clearly and correctly. In accordance with the 2005 decision of the Rectorate on the uniform appearance of TU Dresden (see below), the official name of the university, which is to be used in this form in all publications (also non-German publications) and their metadata, is as follows:
Technische Universität Dresden
Alternatively, the abbreviation TU Dresden can also be used, in particular to avoid umlauts or for technical requirements. Other designations and spellings are not permitted (e.g. Technische Universitaet Dresden, Technical University Dresden or Dresden University of Technology), as these may lead to publications not being assigned to TU Dresden or to the respective publishing members of TU Dresden.
When indicating the affiliation, the name of the university, Technische Universität Dresden or TU Dresden, comes first, followed by the name of one organisational unit. In the case of further subordinate organisational units of TU Dresden, such as School, faculty, centre, institute, etc., they need to be separated by commas. The official and correct spelling of the organisational unit(s) is to be used in all cases – also in an international context.
