Showcases of our excellence in research are the Graduate School DIGS-BB, two Clusters of Excellence, CRTD in Biomedicine and Life Sciences and cfaed in Microelectronics and Materials Research, as well as numerous Collaborative Research Centres, Research Training Groups and ERC Grants. Research at TU Dresden revolves around five interdisciplinary Research Priority Areas (RAP's):

  • Health Sciences, Biomedicine and Bioengineering
  • Information Technology and Microelectronics
  • Smart Materials and Structures
  • Energy, Mobility and Environment
  • Culture and Societal Change

You will find all detailed information on Research Priority Areas.

An important factor for the outstanding research performance at TU Dresden is the close collaboration with the local non-university research institutions and researching cultural institutions, which are strongly represented throughout Dresden. With the DRESDEN-concept research alliance, we have created a unique setting to utilise synergies in research, teaching, infrastructure and administration while also increasing the visibility of Dresden-based research excellence.

To foster excellent research at our university, TU Dresden provides a cohesive support system. We support our researchers in the planning of and application for research projects and we are especially dedicated to the promotion of young researchers.

Futhermore, TU Dresden as an university with a strong focus on transfer makes it's research results available to the industry, politics and society.
