Junior Professorship (W1) in Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law, especially
Patent Law and Legal Issues of AI
(with tenure track to W3)
with a four-year contract, to be filled at the earliest possible date. Evaluation criteria mutually agreed upon when the position is accepted will form the basis of the evaluation procedures. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract will be extended to a total of six years. At the latest in the fifth year of the appointment, a TU Dresden evaluation commission will conduct the tenure evaluation. The focus of the evaluation will be the scientific success in the form of subject-relevant and high-quality publications, the acquisition of third-party research funds as well as related project management experience, commitment and success in teaching performance and promotion of young researchers, the networking in the scientific community and special commitment to academic self-administration. Following a positive evaluation, a permanent Chair (W3) of Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law, especially Patent Law and Legal Issues of AI will be granted.
You will represent the above-mentioned field with its national and international references in research and teaching. In teaching, you will conduct courses in German and English within the Master's study program "International Studies in Intellectual Property Law". Your teaching duties will initially comprise four academic hours per week.
We expect proven professional qualifications in the field of intellectual property rights and the regulation of technical innovations, especially in relation to AI, and a high motivated to engage in interdisciplinary collaborative research. In addition to the qualification of a law degree at a German or foreign university, you are expected to have studied abroad, preferably in English-speaking countries. A very good command of written and spoken English is essential. German language skills are also required at the time of application and we assume that within three years a level of proficiency in German will be reached enabling the holder of the position to give lectures in German and to actively participate in academic self-administration. Relevant teaching experience in the field of legal education at universities is a prerequisite.
