Markus Scholz again as guest on the WDR Politikum podcast
Prof. Dr. Markus Scholz was once again a guest on "Politikum - Der Meinungspodcast von WDR 5", where he discussed key issues relating to the role of companies in liberal democracy.
His contribution focused on the thesis that liberal democracy should not be seen as a mere "nice to have", but as a fundamental condition for a functioning social market economy. Prof. Scholz argued that companies not only benefit from the institutional foundations of an open society, but also have a responsibility to actively protect them. Furthermore, the preservation of democratic freedoms is not a moral luxury, but an integral part of responsible corporate governance. He emphasized that managers and companies are both economic actors and citizens of a free society, who should engage accordingly when democratic systems come under pressure.
