Application

For your application as an Erasmus or visiting student, please registrate online and send your complete application documents to the international office of the TU Dresden. Please see the web pages of the international office for further information.

Learning Agreement

Use our directories of modules (see section "Degree programmes") for setting up your learning agreement.

Our degree programmes in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, and Mechatronics are offered as integrated five-year (single-tier) programmes leading to a Diplom degree. The Diplom programmes thus include Bachelor level (1st until 3rd year of Diplom programmes) as well as Master level (4th and 5th year of Diplom programmes). So when choosing the modules you want to attend during your stay at our faculty, make sure to choose the appropriate level.

The majority of the modules non-degree students choose must be offered within the degree programme the student is enrolled on; up to 30% of the modules can be chosen from other degree programmes.

Language of Instruction and Language Requirements

Please note that most of our modules for our degree programmes in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Engineering and Mechatronics are delivered in German. For this reason, you should have a good command of German (B1 or better) so that your period of study in Dresden will be successful.

Our Master's programme in Nanoeletronic Systems is taught in English. If you want to apply as an exchange student for Nanoelectronic Systems, you have to prove good knowledge of English (at least B2).

Incoming students that want to undertake a project (e.g. their final thesis) during their stay at our faculty have to prove good knowledge of English or German (at least B2-level.)

Timetables

Please note that most of our modules consist of several parts. It is important that you attend all parts of the modules you have chosen. With the help of our directory of modules (see top of page), you find out which course belongs to which module.

In the timetables, you can find when and where the courses take place. The timetables for the current semester can be found here (in German only).

Schedule for Doppelstunden

At TU Dresden, timetables are subdivided into so-called Doppelstunden.

German Language Courses

The language courses "German as a foreign language" can be attended by all foreign students of the TU Dresden within the limit of their language budget. Please find further information on the German language courses here.

Changes in the original proposed Learning Agreements

If you have changed your module choice, you have to fill in part 2 of the Learning Agreement (table C and D). Please note that Monique Rust can sign the changed learning agreement within a certan period of time only. Before or after this period of time, the changed learning agreement cannot be signed. The exchange students will be informed about this period during the welcome week in the beginning of the semester.

Registration for Exams

To be allowed to take exams, you need to register for these at the examination office (Ellen Töpfer). Please use this form for registration. Please note that there are deadlines set for registration. After the deadline has expired, registration is no longer possible.

The examination schedules can be found here (in German only).

If you have registered for an exam but you cannot take it for any reason, you need to give notification of this to the examination office, using this form. If you do not inform the examination office about your absence from the exam, you will be graded as "not passed".

Before you return home

Please note that your transcript of records will not be issued or sent to you or your home university automatically. You therefore have to contact Monique Rust for your transcript of records when your study visit in Dresden is nearly finished.

Please also be aware that your data will be saved only for the period of two years following your stay in Dresden. After this period of time, the examination office do not have any access to your data and we therefore cannot issue your transcript of records any more.

If you need a confirmation of attendance for your stay at the TU Dresden, you can have it issued by the international office or by Monique Rust.
