[Framework] BRISE: A Multiple Product Line for Expensive Blackbox Optimization

Expensive blackbox optimization (EBBO) spans over numerous domains including:

• search-based software engineering;
• AI and machine learning;
• operations research;
• optimization itself.

A distinctive feature of EBBO is an expensive evaluation of the objective function, making classical optimization non-viable.
BRISE is a multiple-product line for EBBO developed at the chair of software technology. Its main feature is a highly-customizable optimization workflow, enabling high solution quality and ease of extensibility.
BRISE can also serve as a benchmark, enabling comparison of newly developed approaches.
To unlock the full potential of this framework, a set of improvements is required but not limited to:

• application to new case studies
• benchmarking
• modeling
• self-optimization
• transfer learning
• visualisation and front-end
