Changes of Course
Sorry - this document is available in German only.
A change of study program always occurs when a student of the TU Dresden or of another university
- the/a subject of study,
- the place of study,
- the desired degree (Bachelor, Diplom, Master) or/and
- the form of study (direct/distance learning)
wants to change.
The generally applicable application deadlines for open-admission and restricted-admission (Nc) programs apply for a change. Special deadlines for registering for admission examinations or placement examinations can be found in the current subject overview of the Admissions Office.
Please also note that for a change of study program, the crediting of study periods must be clarified in advance in order to be able to make a decision regarding the placement in the corresponding semester. This may require up to 4 weeks of time, which should be planned for.
The illustration shows the procedure for changing your degree program. In our change of study program handout you will also find further information that you should observe when changing your study program/location.
- The application to change the course of study/subject is carried out online via the application portal of the Admission Office.
- A copy of the certificate of higher education entrance qualification (Abitur certificate).
- In the case of a change to a degree program at the Faculty of Information, the Enrollment Office requires a certificate from the responsible examination board showing the subject semesters credited.
In order to determine the semesters to be credited, the student must submit an application for the crediting of study and examination achievements in the course of a change of degree program in advance (please note that processing can take up to 4 weeks!).
When filling out the application, please note the following points:- In each case, it must be indicated for which module of the "new" degree program the achievements are requested for recognition
- Descriptions of the modules/subjects/courses for which the credits are requested for recognition must be attached to the application.
- The achievements applied for recognition are to be proven by original or officially certified certificates / overviews of achievements / transcripts of records / proofs of achievement etc..
- The final failed and open examination procedures listed in your application must be confirmed by the responsible examination office/study office or similar of your previous study program of your previous study program.
Open examination procedures must be specified in the aplication for crediting of study and examination achievements in the course of a change of degree program.
→ This includes all examinations for which an application has been submitted, which have not yet been successfully completed or for which an assessment has not yet been made.
- Apply for the degree program to which you want to transfer via the application portal of the TU Dresden by the deadline; indicate that the degree program will be continued and thus select "higher FS". If the deadline has been missed, it may be possible to obtain access to the applicant portal for "latecomers" at the Admissions Office.
- Fill out the application online, print it out, sign it and hand it in at the Admissions Office.
- When changing to a degree program at the Faculty of Information, an application for crediting of study and examination achievements in the course of a change of degree program must always be submitted. if you have any questions or are unsure which information should be entered in which column, you are advised to go to the faculty advisor.
- Submit the application for credit transfer of study and examination achievements in the course of a change of study program together with the completed credit transfer certificate to the examination office or to the advisor.
- Admission office sends the yellow matriculation slip a few days after the application documents have been submitted.
- Submit the completed enrollment slip together with the credit certificate issued by the Examination Committee back to the Admission Office
- Within the next few days you should be re-registered in selma.
- The new semester sheet will be sent by the Admission Office.
- Submit the new enrollment certificate to the Examination Office (see note on the crediting notice) and BAföG Office (or §9 certificate), if applicable, if you are working as a SHK, to the responsible TUD administrator.
-
Enjoy the new course of study ☺ (in the jExam, however, the grades of the old course of study will continue to be displayed next to the new one).
- Final failed examination: According to §18 para. 2 no. 6 of the SächsHGSG, a student applicant is to be denied enrollment in a degree program if he or she has definitively failed an examination required for the completion of the chosen degree program. This also applies in the case of a change of degree program.
- Failed attempts: According to §16 Abs. 5 of the examination regulations of the Faculty of Computer Science, failed attempts of module examinations from the same or other study programs are to be accepted.
Example: A failed exam in the module INF-B-210 of the Bachelor of Computer Science is automatically a failed attempt in the Bachelor of Media Informatics, whereas this does not apply to the Diplom of Computer Science, as this is a different module: INF-B-210 != INF-D-210. - Crediting of study and examination achievements: If you have study and examination achievements credited to you in the course of your change of degree program, this also results in an ex officio crediting of corresponding periods of study. This means, for example, that if you have 30 LP credited, one semester will be credited.
- For BAföG recipients: From the 3rd semester onwards, you can only change your course of study while retaining your BAföG entitlement by declaring the change as a "change of focus". A change of focus means that the number of semesters does not change after the change, i.e. you will be graded "normally" as if you had not changed.
