Available Positions
PhD positions
We always welcome new members at the chair and we are very interested in working together with excellent researchers from different national and cultural backgrounds.
The chair regularly has new vacancies for PhD students and generally welcomes applications from very good candidates who are willing to work independant, hard and have a profound background in distributed systems, security, Linux as well as good programming skills, preferably in C/C++.
Prospective candidates for PhD positions need to have a Master's (MSc) or comparable degree (5 years at the university level). Very good English skills are a prerequisite, basic knowledge in the German language will help in the day to day life in Dresden, but is not needed for the work at the research group.
Please send us your complete application, comprising of
- a motivational letter
- a short description of your previous research (BSc/MSc theses, additional scientific projects)
- a short proposal which topics and research questions you consider challenging to pursue them in your PhD
- your concise CV
- your transcripts of records (including scanned certificates)
- at least two references
The same holds for potential DAAD scholars.
SHK/WHK positions
1) We are looking for a student to develop a QT application for both Windows and Linux. Details: job-offer.
Independent of this, please feel free to send us your CV and clearely indicate your skills and visited lectures. We might contact you, if we have an open position in the future.
Internships
We always welcome interns at our research group, as well, even though we do not offer any funding for internships, at the moment. Funding for international interns is available through DAAD, IAESTE, and numerous other organizations, please apply for your funding first.
However, due to the high number of applications we already receive (on the order of 10 applications per week), we ask you to provide us with the exact same information as prospective PhD students. Especially important is making absolutely clear in which of our fields you are interested and motivating well a research idea and project you would like to pursue during your internship. The proposal does not have to be perfect and we might actually ask you to work on a slightly different topic, once you are here, but applications that fail to state an interest matching our research will unfortunately be ignored.
Please send your application to our secretary if you have outstanding qualifications.
