19th German Aerospace Day in Dresden
TU Dresden Research Aircrafts - 19th Day of German Aerospace
The 19th German Aerospace Regions Day in Dresden showed that aviation of the future is not just being discussed in abstract terms – it is being researched in concrete terms. The Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) and the Institute for Aerospace Engineering (ILR) at TU Dresden are currently jointly presenting research aircraft such as the Diamond Aircraft DA62 MPP. This will be a ‘flying laboratory’ in which fossil-free propulsion systems and modern sensor technology will be tested under real flight conditions. Testing several technologies simultaneously is part of the concept.
Particularly noteworthy are the OST4Aviation and FoFlu initiatives, which underscore the supraregional and interdisciplinary cooperation between universities, research institutions and industries to advance climate-friendly engine solutions.
With the DA62 MPP as a collaborative research tool, the ILR gains new opportunities to apply its expertise in aerospace technology under real-world conditions. The aircraft will not only enable technical innovations, but also be a visible sign that research, lightweight construction and propulsion technology are closely interlinked in order to pursue more sustainable paths in aviation.
