Empirical design research
For us, design research begins with questions: What framework for action do we set? What materials and technologies do we consider, what experiences and contexts do we take into account in our actions? What partners do we need to have a broader impact? In short, how do we design research and development spaces that promote responsible and sustainable action?

Design research for sustainability transformation
Insight and knowledge, even the most advanced technology, do not change behavior. A successful sustainability transformation requires both the acceptance of innovations and the motivation to use them. We therefore place relationships at the center of our research: relationships to objects, processes and systems on the one hand. For multi-perspective solutions, however, it is also about relationships between stakeholders.
Resilience and impact become leitmotifs for an integrated development approach — both for our Chair and for our research. We are expanding short-term, incremental, project-based and responsive approaches into longer-term, transformative, holistic and visionary planning: where do we see potential for new developments and how can we help shape them?
