Stator Wake Propagation Inside Rotating Blade Passages
I. Lehmann, E. Wolf, K. Vogeler
Investigations of the influence of the stator wakes on the flow field of the downstream rotor blade passages have been carried out on the Dresden four stage low speed research compressor (LSRC).
Flow field measurements were performed using a laser doppler anemometer. The measurements can be resolved within the rotating passages using a trigger from the rotating reference system. The flow field was moved relatively to the measuring volume in circumferential direction by moving the stator blades of all stages. The acquired data are transformed into the relative system.
Snap shots of the flow field inside the rotor blade passage are shown. These demonstrate the dependency of the results on the relative position of the rotor to the upstream stator. The shape and the propagation of the stator wakes are visible.
Measurements were taken at design point and near the stability limit of the compressor. The differences of the flow pattern are shown.
