International Partnerships
International partnerships form the central element of our internationalization. They exist and emerge at all levels of the university.
Derived from our strategy papers, we pursue multiple goals at the university level with our international partnerships.
This diversity requires a partnership portfolio to pursue specific goals with selected cooperation partners.
Strategic university partnerships are a particularly good fit in terms of their subject portfolio as well as their strategic focus. They involve all status groups and above all increase the quality of research and teaching at TU Dresden and advance the topics of technology transfer and innovation. Furthermore, they aim at a particularly intensive cooperation in central profile areas and globally significant research questions as well as a cooperation in several fields of action. This includes the special form of collaboration with King’s College London. The intensity of this connection has produced joint structures (transCampus) in the meantime.
Our regional partnerships with Poland (above all Wroclaw) and the Czech Republic play a central role. We want to work with them as a DRESDEN-concept alliance involving the three countries to have an impact on business and society, and increase our visibility in this area. The involvement of other stakeholders at the respective locations is important for this.
The global challenges in this century also assume an important place in the international partnerships of TU Dresden. International partnerships are intended to make contributions to overcoming these challenges. Particular attention is paid here to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the Global South.
These approaches are complemented by a diverse and increasing commitment to networks and alliances as well as the regional focus. The setting of this focus is derived, among other things, from the breadth and depth of our activities in specific regions or countries (Japan, Vietnam, India, etc.).
Ultimately, we are pursuing decentralized lighthouse partnerships. This includes relationships with overarching relevance, a subject-specific focus, and decentralized location. Overall, these “lighthouses” stand for the quality, breadth, and diversity of TU Dresden.
Beyond the strategic efforts on a central level, the form of strategic partnerships at the School level acquired a special significance with the Excellence Period 2012 to 2019.
Furthermore we accompany structured exchange programs with about 300 partners worldwide. This ensures the indispensable diversity and ability to find a good match for all our students and employees. We invite you to gain an overview of these existing international partnerships. Please note that due to a database change, university and departmental cooperations as well as individual faculty cooperations may not yet be found in the overview.
Various support and funding options are available to implement the diverse collaborations.
