Needs Assessment
Based on a comprehensive self-understanding and mission statement of personnel development at TU Dresden, which goes beyond just continuing and further training for employees and is aimed at working conditions as a whole, a variety of other aspects are to be considered so that a reliable overview can be obtained of the existing needs, expectations and wishes of employees at TU Dresden. This means that the personal needs of individual employees, but also the common needs of larger employee groups, can be determined.
It is the responsibility of the day-to-day managers to identify individual requirements. As "personnel developers on-site" they are tasked with identifying the personal needs of their employees using various tools, such as annual interviews, and providing them with appropriate opportunities and important information.
Employee Survey
To obtain a comprehensive picture of the needs of employees, an employee survey is to be conducted regularly from 2019 onwards which will create a valuable foundation for personnel development at TU Dresden.
Future labs
In 2018, Future Labs was launched at TU Dresden, in order to allow students and staff to be more involved in the university's strategic development and to exchange views on a variety of topics, such as digitalisation, collaboration and networking, cultural change, personnel development and employer attractiveness. Due to its enormous success, this event format, based on moderated group discussions, is set to continue and will be used as an opportunity to continuously record employees' requirements with regard to HR development services in an open, informal setting.
Age structure analyses
As a result of demographic change, the German labour market will in future face new challenges with regard to the recruitment and retention of qualified specialist and managerial staff. At TU Dresden, age structure analyses are therefore being performed at an aggregate level, in order to be able to track demographic changes within the University.
