Molecular composition and turnover of inner leaflet lipids in Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) signalling
Thousands of structurally different lipids species are present within a single cell. They act not only as building blocks shaping the cellular membranes but also as receptors for many membrane-associated proteins that are involved in trafficking and cytoskeletal dynamics and are important components of intracellular signalling cascades. Dysregulation of signalling-lipids turnover is often associated with pathophysiological states including cancer and metabolic or neurodegenerative disorders. This fact motivates me to study and quantify the changes and turnover of lipids that play crucial roles in growth factor-associated signalling cascades e.g. DAG, PA and PIPs.
