Political approval for the transCampus project by Saxon Prime Minister Kretschmer

On Thursday, 11.11.2021, a symposium on the topic of metabolic medicine and endocrinology, initiated by the Chair of Prof. Dr. Bornstein, took place on the campus of the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, featuring various contributions. The occasion was the celebration of the 60^th birthday of the Chair holder.

A highlight of the event was the opening speech by the Prime Minister of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer. He highlighted the transCampus project as outstanding both for medical research in Saxony as well as Dresden as a science hub. “Beacons" such as the transCampus project, which represents a "huge success", are crucial to the state.

Furthermore, he praised the successful cooperation with the strong partner university King's College London and emphasized the relevance of cross-border research. "You can only understand certain diseases if the group of people you are analyzing there is much larger than what you might be able to in Dresden," he said.

Lastly, Kretschmer emphasized the relevance of the commitment of individuals, especially Prof. Bornstein, to the excellence status of the Technische Universität Dresden. The latter is inherent to the TU Dresden as the first and only institution in the new federal states.
