Dr. Hoang Khoa Ly
Seit April 2018 arbeitet Dr. Khoa Ly am Lehrstuhl und ist im Rahmen des Open Topic Postdoc Programms mit dem Aufbau einer Nachwuchsgruppe betraut. Sein Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die chemische Energiekonversion mittels molekularer und heterogener Katalyse. Insbesondere entwickelt Dr. Ly Systeme, die eine effiziente elektro- bzw. photokatalytische Umwandlung von CO2 und N2 zu Rohstoffen für die chemische Industrie ermöglichen. Dabei entwickelt er moderne (schwingungs-)spektro-elektrochemische Ansätze, die eine maßgeschneiderte in operando Untersuchung der katalytischen Systeme erlauben, um relevante katalytische Struktur-Funktions-Beziehungen abzuleiten.
Dr. Khoa Ly studierte Chemie und Physik an der Technischen Universität Berlin und promovierte dort am Lehrstuhl für biophyskalische Chemie unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Peter Hildebrandt im Oktober 2012 mit summa cum laude. In seiner Dissertation untersuchte Dr. Ly mittels oberflächenverstärkter Schwingungsspektroskopie in Kombination mit Elektrochemie biologische Elektronen-Transfer-Prozesse an biomimetischen Grenzflächen.
In den sich anschließenden postdoktoralen Forschungsaufenthalten an der Technischen Universität Berlin (Prof. Dr. Inez Weidinger), der Vrjie Universität Amsterdam (Dr. Diego Millo) sowie als Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow an der Universität Cambridge (Prof. Dr. Erwin Reisner) weitete Dr. Ly mit großem Erfolg die Anwendung dieser Methoden auf die Erforschung von heterogenisierten molekularen sowie heterogenen Katalysatoren für chemische Energiekonversion aus.
