The smartest night of the year: The Faculty of Physics is taking part in the Dresden Science Night on June 20, 2025 with numerous events
On June 20, it's once again time to get hands-on, join in and be amazed at the "DresdenScience Night" (LNdW) at Dresden University of Technology (TUD). From 5 p.m., young and old alike can experiment, ask questions or gather knowledge at 212 free events. For the 22nd time, this evening dedicated entirely to science will showcase the diversity and fascination of research at the TUD. Participation is expressly encouraged at many stations!
The Faculty of Physics provides entertaining insights into current research in and around the Hermann Krone Building, in cooperation with the German Center for Astrophysics (DZA) and the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG). A ride on the N6 bus also takes guests to the underground laboratory "Felsenkeller". Guided tours of the underground laboratory will take place there from 5 pm to 11 pm.
Under the motto Physics - look, join in, marvel, the incomprehensible becomes tangible! Immerse yourself with us in the beginnings of the universe, the fascinating worlds of the smallest particles, the physics of life or the exploration of new materials, phenomena and technologies. You can conduct your own research in a variety of experiments and go on a discovery tour together with Q the cat.
In addition to a colorful program throughout the evening, there are also additional offers at certain times:
The Krone Collection on the ground floor offers guided tours at 6:15 pm, 8:15 pm and 10:15 pm as well as a look into the depot at 7:15 pm and 9:15 pm.
An exciting lecture program awaits you in the lecture hall on the 1st floor:
- 17:30: How do astronomers actually produce the images of galaxies, gas nebulae and star clusters?
- 18:30: Physics of life
- 19:30: First color photos of a black hole
- 20:30: The formation of the building blocks of life
- 21:15: Higgs, muon, dark matter and all the rest: News on the composition of the universe
When does it start?
The 22nd Dresden LNdW will take place on June 20, 2024 from 17:00 to 00:00.
What does it cost?
