I will discuss different possible candidates for what could be the dark matter in our Universe and how to find out experimentally. Specifically I will cover searches for dark matter in astrophysical as well as collider based experiments with a particular focus on the complementarity between the different searches. I will also comment on the interesting possibility that dark matter may be self-interacting.
