The institute

The Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics conducts basic research in the field of experimental and theoretical elementary particle physics, on the structure and formation of our universe as well as on interactions between its smallest constituents, and also does research in the field of experimental nuclear astrophysics and the measurement of radiation doses in technical and medical applications of nuclear and particle physics. In addition, the institute realizes several national and international projects on the transfer of scientific knowledge to the public.
The Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics comprises 7 working groups with a total of more than 80 employees and students. In addition, there are close cooperations with the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf, the European Research Center CERN as well as other national and international research facilities.
