This proseminar opens up an opportunity to practice a 20 minutes oral scientific presentation in English. The topics are related to actual research in condesed matter magnetism:
I. Magnetism
1. Strength of magnetic fields: From brain currents to neutron stars
2. Development and properties of permanent magnets
3. Magnetic levitation
II. Spin-electronics
1. Quantum Hall effect
2. Giant magnetoresistance
3. Spin-transistor and MRAM
III. Superconductivity
1. Phenomenology of Superconductivity
2. Applications of Superconductivity
3. New unconventional superconductors
IV. Spectroscopy of electronic properties
1. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)
2. Electron spin resonance (ESR)
3. MÖSSBAUER spectroscopy
