Lorenz studied Applied Mathematics and Latin American regional studies at Technische Universität Dresden. From 2008-2011, he worked as a research engineer at ciAD competence in AudioDesign, Dresden. In December 2011, he took a post as research associate at the Artificial intelligence lab at Technische Universität Chemnitz, where he performed research on spiking network models of hippocampal place-cell sequences. Since April 2018 he is a member of the Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience unit at Technische Universität Dresden.
- Mechanisms of learning and memory recall in spatial tasks
- Functional role and generation of hippocampal place-cell sequences
- Interactions between synaptic plasticity and cognitive functions
- Population coding in spiking networks
