Video and audio recording of any kind as well as (AI) behavioral analysis are strictly prohibited at TU Dresden and will not take place.
The University Executive Board recommends the use of BigBlueButton, as it can be set so that the examinees do not see each other.
For more detailed information, please see: How to do video exam supervision.
Online examinations should be seen as an alternative form of implementation to conventional on-site exams. Early planning and communication between everyone involved is highly recommended for addressing questions and concerns, especially regarding the processing of personal data (see(DP-7_1) “Why is a declaration of consent for data processing required?” and video supervision.
The OPAL module provided for this purpose (download: bildungsportal.sachsen.de/opal/) can be directly integrated into the respective course.
Examiners should actively ask students to declare their consent in a timely manner – no later than 14 days before the examination date – to ensure proper examination planning.
If (vocational) internships had/have to be discontinued due to the pandemic or if they could not or cannot be realized, the acquisition of competencies should be offered as a substitute through other internship opportunities or alternative forms of teaching/learning. If this is not possible, accommodating decisions should be made on a case-by-case basis for internships that have been discontinued. The point in time at which the internship was discontinued should be taken into account, as the acquisition of competencies can only be assumed and proven after a certain period of time. It is recommended that a sufficient acquisition of competencies is assumed after 50% of the planned internship period has been completed, allowing for a successful completion of the associated examination (e.g. internship report).
The option of online consultations continues to exist. Providing individual consultation hours online is considered to be unproblematic even from the data protection point of view. It is recommended to use the tool BigBlueButton(BBB) and to provide the link to the students using the ZIH login. When identifying the student, it is essential to ensure that the student's name is displayed; students should also identify themselves with their student ID and/or ID card, e.g. by briefly holding them up to the camera.
When using virtual rooms, it is recommended to use the screen sharing feature cautiously. This should be refrained from, especially against the background of providing the student with an insight into their CN study performance account or the HISPOS performance data window.
When organizing online office hours, it may be helpful to know that BBB allows you to configure permanent, individually configurable rooms with the same access link. More detailed information is available in the BBB manual (German / English).
All examined assessments (i.e. types of examinations) that are specified in the examination regulations/module descriptions will be offered. Alternative examinations are still permitted to compensate for disadvantages upon the student’s application to the Examination Committee.
Splitting examined assessments as has been possible during the Covid-19 semesters is not permitted.
The proof of a negative test result, vaccination or recovery will no longer be required for on-site examinations as of April 4, 2022. However, we strongly recommend that all participants who attend in person (including vaccinated and recovered individuals) perform a rapid antigen test several times per week. The test should be done no more than 24h before by yourself or in a public test center.
Wearing a FFP2 mask is still a simple and efficient protective measure. We rely on everyone wearing at least a medical mask (surgical mask) during on-site examinations (in case of written examinations also when seated).
Information on online examinations are available on the website of the central examination management (Current information on examination management in the 2022/2023 winter semester) and on the ZiLL website (Online examinations).
Moreover, the ZiLL offers online workshops and consultation on online examinations.
Is there a formal difference between the exam formats (digital on-site exam, online remote exam)?
There is no formal difference between a digital on-site and an online remote examination. The general conditions (equipment, alloted time, tasks, supervision, and permitted resources, if applicable) are identical. Students are treated equally regardless of how they take their exams.
Listeners can be admitted to public oral examinations that are conducted online, provided that this is regulated by the examination regulations.
When planning public oral examinations online, the principles of planning public oral examinations on-site should be taken into account (e.g. consideration of room capacity; dealing with students who want to take the same examination at a later point).
