Science meets school - for innovative STEM education
Teachers from 35 secondary schools and vocational high schools in Saxony took part in the MINT-EC fireside chat at the CeTI Cluster of Excellence on Tuesday. The focus was on experiencing concrete offers for schools in robotics and AI and the exchange between science and schools. The teachers were given an insight into AI-based robotics and its applications in research and industry as well as concrete suggestions for how this innovative research can enrich lessons. In the subsequent demo course, the interested teachers used the various interactive stations to get their own impression of what their school classes can experience in current research at the TUD.
The TUD supports STEM education in schools with a wide range of offers for schools. Many schools that take part in this event bear the seal of the national excellent STEM school network MINT-EC, while other schools are allowed to bear the signets STEM friendly school or digital school through the national initiative MINT Zukunft schaffen. This annual fireside chat is a joint initiative of the TUD and the TU Bergakademie Freiberg with the aforementioned associations with the aim of further supporting teachers and school administrators in awakening STEM enthusiasm among students and attracting future specialists to engineering and the natural sciences.
