Overall Structure

The OSM consists of 4 blocks: Block A for study orientation, Block B for closing knowledge gaps or learning to write and present academic papers, Block C for acquiring key competencies and Block D for practical application of the knowledge and competencies from the other blocks. Learn more

Block A

Block A "Study Orientation" is designed to support you in making a conscious study decision. You have the opportunity to attend basic courses of various study programs. This will give you insights into different courses and course formats and expand your specialized knowledge. Learn more

Block B

For those interested in science and engineering, Block B contains math lectures that are specially tailored to the needs of prospective students. Prospective humanities and social sciences students, on the other hand, learn to write academic papers and present the results of their work. Learn more

Block C

By acquiring key competencies in Block C, you will be able to solve problems successfully and responsibly in your studies and subsequent career. In Block C, you will also find out which career paths are open to you after graduation. Learn more

Block D

Block D is about applying the knowledge and skills from the other blocks. During the OSM project week in the winter semester, you will work in an interdisciplinary team on a practice-relevant problem. For the summer semester, Block D includes an internship. Learn more

Advice, accompaniment, coaching

With the help of a mentoring and coaching program developed specifically for the OSM, we offer you the opportunity to learn from your own experiences and those of others and to make an informed decision about your future. Learn more

AT A GLANCE

You can complete a one- or two-semester program.

The OSM consists of 4 blocks:

  • participation in regular lectures, exercises and, if applicable, exams
  • math courses to prepare for STEM studies OR an introduction to academic reading, writing and presenting
  • workshops on time and self-management and on academic reading and writing
  • excursions to companies
  • teamwork on exciting projects from professional practice
  • ...

During the Orientation Program, you will receive guidance and support through a mentoring and coaching program.
