Occupational safety, radiation and environmental protection
Avoiding health hazards and accidents when working and studying, as well as protecting and shaping our environment, are important concerns of TU Dresden, and contribute significantly to the maintenance of physical and mental health.
Our colleagues in Unit 4.6 Safety at Work, Unit 4.8 Radiation Protection and in the group for the protection of the environment dedicatedly advise and support the employees and students of TU Dresden, so that everyone can work and study in an sound and risk-free environment. They, along with Unit 4.7 Occupational Health Services, are part of Directorate 4 – Property Management, Technology and Security. The integrative cooperation is demonstrated by joint employment protection inspections, audits according to EMAS, the Health Day and activity days of the environmental management.
Offers and Activities
Staff at the Unit 4.6 Safety at Work offers advice and support on occupational safety, organisational fire protection and emergency management, to not only all employees and students, but more importantly to superiors, safety officers and fire protection assistants.
Common objectives include countering hazards through effective safety measures, thus avoiding accidents, work-related health risks, fires and other emergencies, which in turn create work and study conditions conducive to good health. Occupational safety topics range from machine and electrical safety to hazardous substances, biological agents, laser protection, personal protective equipment, workplace design and maternity leave. The fire brigade of TU Dresden is organisationally anchored in Unit 4.6 Safety at Work, and actively supports preventative and defensive fire protection.
