The Structure of the SprInt Certificate
Table of contents
The Basis and Special versions of the SprInt Certificate consist of individual components and are structured as follows:

* one teaching unit (UE) = 45 minutes

* one teaching unit (UE) = 45 minutes
Component A: Language Competence
You will take part in one of the job-related English language courses that have been specifically devised for the SprInt Programme. All courses consist of 40 teaching units (1 unit = 45 minutes) and usually take place as 2-unit sessions once a week.
If you already have a command of English that is the equivalent of at least the B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages, and can provide the necessary official confirmation of this, you will be able to learn another modern foreign language with an external provider and have this credited towards your SprInt Certificate. In this context, each case is always assessed individually. Please note, however, that the costs for such external courses cannot be reimbursed from Institutional Strategy funds.
In cases where a specific foreign language is shown to be necessary and relevant for your area of work at TU Dresden, a financial contribution can be applied for at Directorate 2, Unit for General Personnel Issues; a further condition is the availability of funds. Please apply informally to the above-mentioned Unit (Ms Breitenborn) and include your supervisor’s assessment of why this foreign language is necessary and relevant for carrying out your duties. Each case will be assessed individually.
Component B: Intercultural Competences
You will attend a total of 24 teaching units (1 unit = 45 minutes) on the topic of intercultural competence. These consist of a one-day workshop (8 units) on general intercultural competence and two one-day workshops (of 8 units each) focusing on culture-specific intercultural competence. You are free to choose the cultural regions you are interested in from the workshop programme.
Component C: International experience - stay abroad
In order to expand the Basis Certificate into the Special Certificate, you will spend at least five days abroad.
You can either visit a university abroad, a company or an organisation, or a language school abroad as part of the "ERASMUS+ Staff Mobility Programme“.
TU Dresden’s International Office is happy to assist you in finding a suitable partner university (Christiane Schmitt-Teichert, Phone: 0351 463-42269). In this way, you can gain insights into the working life of your international colleagues and apply your newly acquired language and intercultural skills.
If you want to visit a company or an organisation abroad, the LEONARDO-BÜRO SACHSEN offers support in finding a suitable partner. For further information, please contact: Claudia Schönherr, Phone: 0351 463-42054
Other forms of structured mobility abroad for university personnel, such as via the Fulbright Commission (http://www.fulbright.de/tousa/stipendien/) may be credited after prior consultation.
